* Anastazija Tamosaitis was born in Vainutas, Lithuania, on September 9, 1910. After graduating from the Women's Fine Art School in Kaunas in 1931, she conducted courses in weaving all over Lithuania in 1932-42 and in Freiburg, Germany, in 1946-48. She studied weaving in Sweden in 1937 and in Austria in 1945-46. In 1948 she moved to Montreal, Canada, where she founded her own weaving and tapestry studio. Two years later she moved her studio to Kingston, Ontario. Anastazija is world reknown as a designer, teacher, and weaver of tapestries and Lithuanian national costumes. She exhibited her work in Europe and the Americas, and has earned numerous prestigous prizes for her work. Samples of her work are part of the museum collections in Canada and the U.S. The Lithuanian national costume she gave to princess Diana is now in the Buckingham palace.

Anastazija, with her husband Antanas, were among the founding members of the Lithuanian Folk Art Institute, and published three important books on Lithuanian folk art:
