About the Artist

Jurgis GIMBUTAS, Ph. D., civil engineer, born in Moscow on January 18, 1918. Dr. Jurgis Gimbutas is called a pioneer in the studies of folk architecture. In 1999, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Kaunas University of Technology for his input into the studies of Lithuanian folk architecture and the history of Lithuanian science.
